Cell Annotation Service (CAS) Acceptable Use Policy

Defined terms (indicated by initial capital letters) will have the meaning given in the Terms of Service.

Acceptable uses of Cell Annotation Service (CAS) include:

  • Conducting research using CAS.
  • Sharing reproducible research.
  • Developing non-commercial scientific software tools.
  • Making data and scientific software tools available to the biomedical research community free of charge.
  • Teaching and educational activities.

CAS may not be used in any of the following ways:

  • For profit-making purposes, such as to sell or perform a paid product or service, or develop a product or service for sale. Please contact us at cas-support@broadinstitute.org if you would like to negotiate a paid commercial use license.
  • To commit a criminal offense, or to encourage others to conduct acts that would constitute a criminal offense or give rise to civil liability.
  • In a way that violates the rights of others.
  • To try and gain authorized access or to disrupt any service, device, data, account, or network.
  • In a way that harms CAS or impairs anyone else’s use of it.
  • Process national security information classified under US or other applicable law.
  • Browse, search, reveal or retrieve protected data or information, or in any other way disclose information, for someone who does not have authority to access that information.
  • Establish any unauthorized interfaces between systems, networks, and applications owned by Broad.
  • Upload any content that contains a software virus, such as a Trojan horse or any other computer codes, files, or programs that may alter, damage, or interrupt the functioning of Terra and its users.
  • Post any material that infringes or violates the academic/intellectual rights of others.
  • To assist or encourage anyone to do any of the above.
